The most recent book on the village is 'The Parish Book of Cerne Abbas - Abbey and After' by Vivian and Patricia Vale.

The book covers the history of the village from earliest tiThe Parish Book of Cerne Abbas - Abbey and Aftermes, but essentially celebrates the last 150 years.

It is based on many years' research of a wide range of parish records and personal reminiscences from characters across the parish.

The Society has produced a fully illustrated Guide entitled 'St Mary's Church, Cerne Abbas -the Building and its Meaning'.

This is a guide book with a difference. It tells the reader aboSt Mary's Church, Cerne Abbas -the Building and its Meaningut the history and architecture of the church, but also addresses questions such as: Why is it there? Why is it like it is? What is its purpose? What is its inner meaning?
